Alongside local Councillors, Lee held a public meeting in Killamarsh to discuss GP provision after requests from residents for a detailed discussion. Dozens of residents attended, alongside representatives of the Medical Centre, to go through their long-standing concerns and questions.
Commenting after the meeting, Lee Rowley MP says:
"The broad summary is that everyone agrees that improvements are required and that the situation isn’t where, in an ideal world, they would want it to be. The Practice did commit in the meeting to three actions over the coming months to try to improve things:
1) That from 4th December, they will significantly increase the number of same day appointments that they have available from < 10 to over 30;
2) That, in the coming weeks ahead, they will be changing their telephony systems and will be including a ringback service to reduce the amount of time a person has to spend on the phone in order to speak to the surgery, and;
3) Over the longer-term, they are looking at what other things, including partnership working with other surgeries, they might be able to do.
A big thanks to everyone who attended. We have agreed to come back together in the Spring to see how things are going; I will let you know when we arrange the next meeting."
