I wanted to start 2024 with an update on all the work underway to level up North East Derbyshire and to make sure that our area gets its fair share.
And it's fair to say that, in the last year alone, we've done pretty well! From the opening of the new Accident & Emergency at the Royal or the Banking Hub at Clay Cross to winning new train stations for Killamarsh and Eckington, 2023 was another big year of progress.
Now, 2024 is all about delivery and, if we can, converting some of the next projects in the pipeline into reality! The big focuses this year are going to be the Staveley bypass, A61 congestion mitigation and supporting regeneration, where we can, in places like Dronfield. As I've said before, we won't get everything but, if we push for lots, hopefully some will come forward!
This year is also the year that you get to decide on your next MP. Irrespective of your political allegiance or what you think is happening nationally, I want you to be aware of the work that has been done, over many years, to make sure we get our fair share - it's been at the heart of everything I've tried to do. When I started as your MP in 2017, almost none of this was in the plan. Now, six years later, we have lots of wins - and lots more possibilities. Fighting for North East Derbyshire is absolutely at the centre of what I have always done - and what I will continue to do. There's a lot more we can achieve together!
